Health Start Clinic

Health Start School-Based Clinics

The Health Start Clinics are wellness centers located in ten St. Paul High Schools. Our Health Clinic at Highland Park High School provides the following wellness services for all students:  

  Medical Care  

  • Wellness visits   

  • Sports physicals  

  • Acute illnesses  

  • Help with ongoing medical conditions (for example, asthma, acne)   

  • Support with new health concerns  

  • Reproductive health  

  • Vaccines (including flu vaccines)  

  Mental Health Counseling  

  • Mental Health Assessment  

  • Depression and suicide prevention  

  • Trauma recovery   

  • Anxiety  

  • Someone to talk to about worries   

 Nutrition Counseling  

  • Nutrition education for disease prevention  

  • Management of current conditions (for example, prediabetes or food allergies)  

  • Assessment for eating disorders  

  • Sports nutrition or fitness planning  

  • Prenatal nutrition education  

  • Food access assistance  

  Health Education  

  • Sexual and reproductive health questions  

  • Help with future-focused decision-making  

  • Improving quality of sleep  

  • Stress management and relaxation  

  • Plans for quitting smoking, vaping, drugs, alcohol or other addictions  

We serve all students regardless of family income, insurance or ability to pay. We strive to help students meet their academic potential and leave school ready to flourish. Our school-based clinic has been proven to minimize absence, support achievement, and teach youth how to care for their health. We are equipped with professional staff that strive to provide young people with equitable access to wellness all while providing confidential care. 

The clinic serves as a place for students to learn how take responsibility of their own care. Students are able to make their own appointments, ask questions and discuss concerns knowing that their privacy will be respected.
